Are you kind?

Good day Beloved, how are you today? The weather here in the Midwest is starting to think about warming a bit. I’ll take it. The other day when I let the dog out the back door for romp. I noticed bunny tracks in the melty snow on the top step. From looking at the prints I could just picture the bunny stopping and looking in the door at the cat on the other side looking at the bunny. I can see the tip of the kitty’s tail snapping back and forth and the haunches tensing with every twitch of the bunny ear or blink of the eye.

I tend to anthropomorphize all critters and in my mind the kitty is whispering, “come here bunny, bunny, come here.” A friend occasionally calls me Doolittle because of my passion and way with critters. This friend has seen as many as five critters around me when we do a ZOOM, to her Doolittle seems a fitting moniker. I would be the first to say that I am more comfortable with critters than I am with people. Have you gathered that through my writings I wonder? Give me a good cup of tea and cat to hold and my pup to snore next to me and I am a happy camper.

Back in the day, we would go to the farmers market every weekend and people referred to us as the bunny girls because I always had a rabbit in a front pack baby carrier. When I have a critter they always learn to deal with a harness and leash. Even the bird. I will admit that the bird has to not gone out about with me just because my Dolly always got too nervous with taking a bird out and about.

I tend to set my thoughts about a person a lot from how they relate to critters, both domestic and not. If a person is kind in their dealings with critters then that tends to transfer to their dealings with people. At least that is how I think. I know a lot of people who would think my way is daft, they are allowed that. Just as I am allowed to think what I chose.

To me, we are all responsible to care for the life and resources within our sphere of influence and beyond. What we each do and use and waste and abuse affects the entirety of the planet. We may not see the results of our actions in our own lifetime, but I think it good to consider our “legacy”. Just consider what you do as your way of life. We can all “do better” yeah? Next time you see a critter, think about making the choice to be kind. What goes around, comes around.

Beloved, have a lovely….
