Good day Beloved,
For some of us this is Easter Monday. For others, just another day on the calendar. Back in the day when my wife and I were regular church attenders we would sometimes complain about “Chreasters”. People who only went to church on Christmas and Easter. I get it, tradition and all. These days with Covid and social distancing yadda yadda, it is easier to not go to church. Not to mention I work on Sundays. I could find a Saturday eve service I’m sure, but that would mean putting myself out there meeting new people, ew. I know I need to get over myself someday.
Anyhow back to this blog. These days I tend to believe that God by whatever name works for you is big enough, gracious enough, loving enough, kind enough, God enough, to come meet us where we are. Where we need Him to be. I think the title today came from some show I was watching on TV. Don’t even remember what it was but that phrase got to me.
Do you think God comes to where you are or does your God demand you come to Him? Is it a servant/master relationship? A parent/child relationship? Can it be more? Can your relationship with your God be dynamic and fluid and moving and growing? Is your God someone who you can sit down at the kitchen table with and just talk? I understand that God is GOD, and it is right and appropriate to give Him reverence and honor and worship and devotion. Sometimes when God walked this earth as Jesus or Allah or Buddha, He sat a shared a meal with the people. The whore washed his feet. The fishermen ate with him while they still smelled like fish. The regular people like me broke bread with him and talked, just talked.
Yes YES God is GOD ALMIGHTY. At the same time, he can be approached and touched and, and invited to share a meal. Not just on the Holidays but on Tuesday night when the kids are cranky, and the parents are frazzled. That is when He most wants to be with us. God wants to come have dinner with us when we are struggling with the day in and day out stuff of life in addition to the glory of the Holidays and Sunday best clothes. Are you willing to let your God see you before the first cup of coffee in the morning?
Here is the challenge part of my musing. Join me in trying to push the boundaries of the box we have put our God into. Try to look at your relationship to your God through a different filter. Ramadan is coming soon….
Beloved have a lovely…
