Unexpected Connections

Hello Beloved,

How is your world today? Mine is feeling a bit hot, confused, clear, messy, settled all at the same time. You ever have days like that? I bet you do if you are a mere human like I am. I was blessed with the opportunity to connect with a couple people I used to know a lifetime ago. It was so good to spend time with them.

It almost, ALMOST makes me want to release some of my isolationist, introverted ways. Every now and then ABBA drops a nice little surprise into my small world that gives me reason to smile. I tend to be one of those people who love fiercely and are very protective of those I care about.

Sometimes people connect in the most unexpected ways. You meet someone on the job, in the ‘hood, in a store, walkin’ the dog. The connection is deeper than you understand, and a friendship is born almost in the time it takes to say “Hello, I am Mona”. Are you aware of moments like this in your life? I hope you are.

It is important to receive the gifts we are offered. Every time I get involved in a group I find there are connections that I did not expect when I first walked in. That is a gift. You know what I am talking about? Sometimes our unexpected connections cross generations. When I was young, I spent a great deal of time with older folks, so I am still more comfortable with my elders but am surprised from time to time when I realize that I have a fierce love for someone significantly younger than I.

I have a few people in my world that I think of as younger sisters and brothers. I am sure they wouldn’t have any idea I feel that way toward them and that is my loss for sure. Beloved I want to encourage you to be aware of the unexpected connections and be a little bit out loud about how much you appreciate them. This might be a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, but I believe if you persevere it will be worth it.

I know I need encouragement to be more open and vocal with the people I care about. It is true that some time this will be met with a cold shoulder but the once in a while when it is reciprocated will make it worth the effort. Friendship is important. Look for the unexpected connections in the unexpected faces.

Beloved, have a lovely…

Mona LangmaackMelin
