How do they know?

Good day Beloved,

May I ask you a question? Yeah, good, here it is. Do you subscribe to the evolution ideology or the creation ideology?

Let’s think about plants for a moment. How do spring bulbs know when it is time to grow? Now I know it has to do with ground temperature and water and seasons and all that, but how does the little Crocus bulb know to push it’s pretty blossoms up through the last visages of snow in the early spring?

I think that the Creator hard wired this pattern into the bulbs during the original creation time. I also think that they may very well have evolved over time to keep up with changes in the environment.

If a tree is growing close to a constant source of water and nutrients like a nice clean river or lake why is it that the trees don’t just keep growing bigger and taller all the time. There are limits hardwired into the genetics of the tree. Take two trees, put one in the ideal spot by the lake and one in a less ideal spot by the dessert, one will grow to it’s full potential while the other will evolve a different structure that is able to cope with the harsher conditions.

I think that the basic life force of everything that lives was put in place by an act of creation and that life force was given the ability to evolve as needs direct to promote future generations. I’ll give you that this world would look a whole lot different if humankind had not decided to get involved with crossbreeding for specific traits in everything. This is not the kind of evolution I am thinking about right now. That is a rabbit hole I will jump into for another post in the future.

If you plant a couple different colors of flowers in the same space and give them enough time and good pollinators, eventually you get a mix of colors. Now humankind is not patient enough, so we force the change. I am always amazed by the creativity that is evident in nature. Why are there different kinds of trees? Different kinds of flowers?

I think it is due to the original hardwiring of creation. The only way I would be able to grow a palm tree in my yard is if it were changed by evolution or by human intervention. The hardwiring is not meant for this climate.

I know I would not be able to hold up my end of the discussion for very long on this particular subject but here I get to speak my opinion. I have seen in my years plants adjust to different seasonal conditions. In a “good” year they are more vigorous than in a less ‘good” year. The hardwiring remains the same, but the conditions can and do dictate some things.

I guess the bottom line for me is this. Creation and evolution coexist in everything. They are not mutually exclusive. Critters learn where their food comes from. Plants learn how get the sunlight they need.

Did you know sunflowers used to actually turn their heads to the sun and follow it from sunrise to sunset? That sadly has been bred out of most sunflowers these days. How did they know to do that? Hardwiring or evolution? Perhaps a bit of both.

I kinda feel like I am starting to ramble, so I’ll end it here. Think about it though, okay?

Beloved, have a lovely…
