Little Miracles

Hello Beloved,

How’s the day? Do you get amazed at the “small” stuff anymore? You know how little kids can spend an hour watching a bug. Adults tend to just step on them. Have you seen a little kid shove a handful of Dandelions into their mother’s hand? So happy at the treasure they found.

I don’t know much about meditation, but it seems to me that would be a good way to hang onto the wonder of the small stuff. Sometimes I when I “sits and thinks” I find myself looking at a flower or one of my critters thinking what a miracle they really are.

The brilliant color of a flower is simply amazing. The chatter of the parakeets. Listen to them for a while and you will know when they are all happy and when one is upset about something, you hear it in the sharpness of their voice. One of my little birds is a bit of an escape artist and just listening to them I know she has succeeded. They have that “you’re gonna get caught” sound.

These little birds talk all the time, all the time. The only way to get them to quiet down is to put them in the dark. The other day a friend was over and commented on how loud they are, and I asked her to turn the light off and like the light the birds switched off. Turn the light back on and the birds are back on. It is pretty fun to witness actually.

I think it is so important to not lose sight of the little things. We need to make time to notice and contemplate and appreciate the little miracles around us every day.

The ant that carries 10 times its weight. The crocus that blooms through the snow. The fact that each snowflake is different from its neighbor. The grain of sand that used to be a rock. The piece of glass that used to be a grain of sand. The child that picked the Dandelions. The mom that birthed the child.

All Miracles in my mind. All worth being thankful for. What are you thankful for? What “little” thing did you notice today? Share it somebody. Share it with me.

Beloved, blessed be….
