Three Tries

Hello Beloved, have a good week? You ever think about how the culture we are raised in dictates what we think is normal and what is so far outside our comfort zone it never casts a shadow on the furthest corners of our mind? Food is a good example. For the most part I grew up eating meat and three. Fish was rare and homemade bread was the expected. Spice was black pepper and salt. The only thing I have never learned to drink when growing up is coffee, I love the small and I make a great cup but I prefer tea. Simple black tea, none of this flavored stuff. That is just me. My daddy made the best cup of ever to be drunk.

Anyway back to topic. Thinking about food. I know people are vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, etc. That’s all good. Eat what you like. I would however like to encourage you to try something new and different every now and then. Once I tried goat, you know what? It is good eating. I do not however like spice, particularly hot spice. Enjoy all the buffalo wings you want, I will enjoy the plain ones. Crickets are nice and crunchy, chocolate covered grasshoppers are a smidge chewy. Meal worms mostly taste like what they are prepared with.

I was active in a messianic community for a while and learned about things like matzoh and timbales. Game meat is good when treated properly from kill to plate. Do you know that pork really should more red than it is the other white meat? Chicken gizzards, yum, chicken liver not so much. What is normal good comfort food for you? Some form of empanada or dumpling maybe?

Are you willing to try something new? Yak momos maybe? Spinach? Anything that is outside your norm, try it. As a matter of fact, try it three times before making up the bottom line. Even when trying a new tv show, try three episodes before you decide if it something you want to finish or not. Three tries, not to much ask, yeah.

Beloved, be encouraged, be strong, be brave, be daring. Three times over.
